The paper reflects a newly discovered resource in the Olomouc branch of Municipal Archive in Opava - Revision of organ in Olomouc Metropolitan church since 1931 and older, ZA OpOl, sign.: MCO, card. n. 34, in the relation to the organ of the chapter house in Olomouc. Nešvera Josef (1842, Hořovice - 1914, Olomouc), a major representative of Smetana and Dvořák composer's school, choir director, a much sought-after teacher and performer, an honorary member of many Czech and Moravian associations and the holder of state honors, conducted the orchestra of the Cathedral of St. Wenceslas in Olomouc for thirty years (1884-1914). The professional reputation of the music historian of Moravia, Jiří Sehnal, a native of Moravia, was acquired by his large-scale research done in the field as well as in music centres. In her paper, the author focuses on the folklorism of Novák in comparison with other Czech artists of the period. At the end of the 19th century, the painter Joža Uprka, the architect Dušan Jurkovič, and the composer Leoš Janáček were also looking for inspiration in the folk art and culture of Moravia and Slovakia. The author presents their biographical profiles and identifies similarities and differences of their artistic techniques.

Das Interesse von Akademikern an einer wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnis der Ursprünge der Musik hat seine Wurzeln schon am Anfang des 18. Jahrhunderts. Es ist allerdings zu erwähnen, dass das Werk von Charles Darwin die Entwicklung der Musikwissenschaft nur in einem überraschend geringen Maße beeinflusste. Man braucht sich demzufolge nicht zu wundern, dass die evolutionsorientierte Musikwissenschaft eher vom Interesse von Wissenschaftlern von anderen als musikwissenschaftlichen Bereichen ausging. Trotzdem ist es wichtig, die Notwendigkeit des ethnomusikologischen Ansatzes zur Forschung im Bereich der Ursprünge der Musik und deren Evolution zu bekräftigen....

An important Czech music historian, Miroslav Karel Černý (December 11, 1924 - July 10, 2011) died in Prague after a short disease. He worked as a lecturer at the Faculty of Education of Charles University, later at the Department of Music Theory and History in the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, as a researcher at the Institute of Musicology of the Czechoslovak Academy of Science (1962-1985), and as an associated professor at the Department of Musicology of Palacký University in Olomouc (since 1991).
