Jedním z nejbližších přátel profesora Ivana Poledňáka v době jeho studií v Brně byl Miloš Rejnuš, jenž byl nejen mimořádně talentovaným historikem, nýbrž i dramatikem. Jeho profesní i životní dráha však byla předčasně přerušena. Z politických důvodu byl nucen odejít z university, kde působil jako mladý asistent a o několik let později (v roce 1964) tragicky zahynul při automobilové nehodě. Hlavním dílem jeho dramatické tvorby je hra Ur-Hamlet, inspirována Shakespearovou tragedií a neblahou politickou událostí, atentátem na prezidenta Spojených států amerických Johna F. Kennedyho. Ačkoli Rajnuš hru Ur-Hamlet téměř dokončil, po jeho smrti byla přepracována dramatikem Václavem Renčem a z její nové verze později vznikla také opera Karla Horkého Jed z Elsinoru.

One of the closest friends of Professor Poledňák during his studies in Brno was Miloš Rejnuš, extremely talented not only as historian but also as dramatist. Unfortunately, his career took an abrupt end during an automobile accident when he was just going to visit a theatre performance in a town near Brno. His principal work, Ur-Hamlet (if Goethe wrote Ur-Faust, so Rejnuš wrote his Kennedyan judge Warren as a ur-history of Hamlet), although almost finished was re-re-written by another playwright-poet, Václav Renč, in form not only of a drama, but also of an opera (The Poison of Elsinor).
