The oldest sound recording of an excerpt from Hippodamia (a scene on the walls from the first act of The Courtship of Pelops) dates back to 1911. A comparison with more recent recordings clearly shows how quickly this layer of melodrama interpretation is evolving. declamation; interpretation; style of acting; field of acting; melodrama; voice; word ER
