AB  - The study reconstructs the sequence of events leading to B. Smetana's deafness. It re-examines the autopsy report and analyses the preserved bones of Smetana's middle ear for the possibility of an infectious disease. The study considers the maximum number of factors, including the exceptional surge in creative activity in the last decade of Smetana's life, in order to draw a definite conclusion in the form of a medical image - deafness as a consequence of a veneric infection.
