PT Journal AU Hudec, V TI THE CALENDAR OF OPERA AND OPERETTA SO Musicologica Olomucensia PY 2006 BP 153 EP 232 VL 8 IS 1 AB The work by Vladimir Hudec The Calendar of Opera and Operetta is closely directed to the issues of the music theatre of Olomouc in the 20th century, i.e. it deals with the Czech professional music theatre in the years 1920-2005. Until 1920 the professional theatre of Olomouc was, in fact, German. Only then it passed over to the Czech citizens. Nevertheless, the Germans made use of the theatre building during several subsequent seasons until 1924. The theatre was, hereafter, more or less Czech with the exception of the time period of the 2nd World War. Several different personalities have changed in the position of the managers of individual ensembles. The theatre went through different political regimes that affected its face. In the Calendar, there are depicted, in chronological order, the most important moments and liaisons of all the seasons of the defined period. This piece of work is an outstanding groundwork for orientation and a significant starting point for further, more detailed works.Alice Kucerova ER
