Peer review process
The editors of the journal reserve the right to reject a paper for formal or content reasons before the actual review process begins. As part of the review process, the study is sent to two independent reviewers with appropriate qualifications. The review process is based on mutual anonymity. The basic requirement for acceptance of an article is its originality and scientific relevance.
Requirements of the peer review process
During the anonymous review process, the following requirements are assessed and specified in the review form:
- originality of the paper (the paper has not been published anywhere before submission)
- originality of the subject matter, and whether the manuscript would be of interest to a domestic and international academic readership
- relevance of the article in the field for recent scholarship
- theoretical and methodological background of the article
- whether the article draws on an appropriate range and depth of literature and sources
- coherence and quality of the reference system
- quality standard of academic writing
Results of the peer review procedure
Standard types of decisions used by the journal Musicologica Olomucensia are:
- accept
- accept with minor changes (as suggested in the review form without further review)
- return to author for changes (and subsequently resubmit for further review)
- decline
